We have this chair in our house that we bought years ago…it’s a Snuggler recliner from Lane, it’s wider than a regular chair but not quite as big as a loveseat and two people can sit in it comfortably…it started out as my chair but when Henna was a puppy she customized it for me…and not in a good way…she chewed the arm of the chair and another place on the front one night when we were in bed. I paid too much for the chair to just toss it out so we lived with it…for awhile. We finally took the plunge 3 years ago and bought new furniture for the livingroom…leather, because doghair doesn’t stick to leather!!! We finally thought we were going to gety rid of the chewed chair….but Henna had other plans!!! We took the chair out of the house and put it in the garage until Noel could haul it to the transfer station. Good thing he didn’t haul it off right away because Henna got depressed and just moped around without the chair. Needless to say, Noel and I are suckers and this ugly, chewed chair is STILL in our house…in the office. The dogs all love it and we refer to it as Henna’s throne now….because she IS the queen of the dogs in this house…well, she thinks so anyway!!! If someone comes over and sits in her chair she will sit in front of me and howl until I ask the “intruder” to choose a different chair…it’s usually just one of my kids or grandkids though so I am not too rude!!! I have had to put a sheet on the seat of the chair because the fabric is very worn and she has dug a hole in the cushion. It gets vacuumed of doghair regularly and the sheet washed very often so the upkeep is minimal for this eyesore. We have resolved ourselves to maintaining this chair in our home until something happens to Henna or we just can’t stand it anymore. If you look close on the right hand side of the picture, you can see Henna’s handiwork…now that I think about it, maybe this was her plan all along!!!!
Here is one of the reasons this chair is still in our house…..how could I take this away from my sweet girl??? Yeah…she’s rotten!!!!
We are very proud to say that we are Nana and Papa to three of the most beautiful girls in the world…Jessica, Erin and Madison…just thought I would post some new pics of these three beauties!!! In case you can’t tell…Nana likes taking pictures of these gorgeous girls!!!

This one really captures our Madi-Sue!!!
We also have a new granddaughter(Hailey -7) and grandson(Dylan -5) in Alabama and we can’t wait to meet them…hopefully that will happen this summer!!!!
Stay tuned…more blogs to come…it’s all coming back to me now!!!
Ok…so I have been out of blogging mode for quite some time now…time to get back in the swing of things and keep this thing up. A friend inspired me to get back into blogging when she took the bull by the horns and started one herself. I wish her lots of luck and hope it is as therapeutic for her as it is for me.
Well…since my last blog in September of last year alot of things have happened….good and bad. The first good thing is that my daughter, Kristen, got engaged and married a great guy. She met Jeremy when she was 15 and he was 19, in the Air Force and stationed at Sheppard. We wouldn’t allow her to date himat that time because of the age difference so they became the best of friends and stayed in touch for years. They reconnected through the internet and it was like no time had passed…he moved to Texas and they have been inseparable, they became engaged in February and were married in April…and Erin and Madison adore him!!! They live in Burk now…which kinda sucks because I don’t get to see the girls as often…but they are doing great and we couldn’t be happier for them!!!
We had a small dinner for them to celebrate their marriage and I snapped a few pics…Jeremy is from Alabama so the cupcake tree has a Crimson Tide A on the top (thanks to my Cricut)…welcome to the family Jeremy!!! Love you both!!!
Erin and Madison picked out these bears for the newlyweds!!!
This isn't going to go well!!!!
It's all good!!!!
How cute are these two together??? Love my Beebs and Germy!!!
Most people that know me, know I am an early riser…this is one of the reasons!!!
The more I admired Gods handiwork this morning, the more compelled I was to break out my camera and capture it’s beauty!!!! Stay tuned because fall is my favorite season to photograph!!!!
Lantana in the morning sun...
So I get a text from Jessika asking me if I knew anyone that might be interested in giving a good home to a male Teacup Chihuahua…I said “uhm, yeah!”. So when they came to visit for the weekend of the 4th, they brought him with them for us to have a trial run (yeah, right!!) I have wanted one forever fell instantly in love with him. The name given to him was Sake but I don’t think it suits him so we are getting to know him and it will come to us…for now he is just Lil Man. He has found a place on my desk on Noel’s favorite blanket…for his naps in his chair…til I get his blanket washed that came with him. We had a small bout with fleas (thank goodness for K9 Advantix!!) and Jessika lost that battle and left here Sunday with some bites on her legs….sorry Jess!!!!
I am sure there will be lots of tales to tell of our new little pup in the future. He is already rotten!!!!
I want to say a special THANK YOU to Krystle….he is in good hands…I promise!!!!
My sweet little man!!!!! Yes, he is perched on my desk!!!
Til next time……
OMG…will the spring times storms in June ever stop??? I believe the weatherman called for NO chance of rain for Saturday night…shows what he knows!!! I know we need the rain but I need my sleep too!!!
My beautiful Henna
My sweet Siberian Husky, Henna, hates storms and thinks she needs to sleep on my pillow when they pop up in the middle of the night. I does not bother me but Noel is not fond of the part of her that he encounters when she sleeps on my pillow. His exact words were, “if she farted, she would part my hair”…so at least he has a sense of humor about it!!! My solution is to move to the daybed in the office when the storms pop up in the middle of the night like that…that way she can snuggle with me…she gets between me and the pillows against the back of the bed and out she goes!!! At least we all sleep that way.
Saturday night was a totally different story!!! We had bad storms rolling in all evening and finally hit us between 9-10…which was ok, but there was another line of storms behind it so I decided to go ahead and crash on the daybed with Henna and Tootie…she pants and shakes like a crazy dog when it storms but is much smaller and more tolerable at night…usually if I ignore her, she calms down, curls up and goes to sleep. All went well and when I woke up at 12:15 and checked the radar, all the storms had moved out of the immediate area so I moved back to my king size bed!!! At 12:45, Miss Henna was standing over me in the bed again…and that only means one thing….seizures are coming. She always manages to wake me up before it happens so I can help her through it…have I mentioned that I have a weird connection with this dog?? All I can do , per the vet, is give her her phenobarbital every day and support her when it happens…basically spectate and make sure she doesn’t hurt herself. I have done massive amounts of research on the internet and my only comfort is knowing that she does not remember the seizure…IF they are like a human seizure, which my vet assures me is the case. To make a long story short, I was up with her from 12:45 until almost 4am….had to have a nap Sunday afternoon for sure!!!
I was very relieved when the storms that were building out west Sunday night started moving off to the north and east…I finally got a decent nights sleep…even though I got up and checked on Henna twice because she never came and got in bed with us…the seizures change her enthusiastic personality for a short time afterward and she is very lethargic after the bad seizures like she had on Saturday night/Sunday morning…I can handle the mild ones anyday!!! Gonna call the vet today and inquire about a drug for canine seizures that a friend from high school told me about last weekend…thanks, Karen!!!
Could not let this day go by without recognizing the anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest men I have ever known!!!! Today is my grandfather, Clayton Holen’s, 91st birthday!!! I sent him a balloon bouquet and black licorice (his VERY favorite!!) for his birthday and he was very happy with it!!! His sisters, Erma and Mardine, took him an ice cream cake yesterday and had a little party for him and he was on cloud nine when I talked to him today. He told me he got some very nice cards in the mail and he made the nurses read them to him when they brought them in to him today. To top off his special day, my cousins, Bonnie and Cindy (Mardine’s girls) took him lutefisk and lefse for lunch today….the lefse I love, but the lutefisk is definitely an acquired taste…Google it…I read the description and grossed out but Grampa loves it!!!
Happy Birthday...I love you Grampa!!!
We have had a great week and weekend with Erin and Madison and I just had to brag (as a good Nana should!!!)
It never ceases to amaze me what we will do for these two little girls…even if it means swallowing your pride and letting them paint your fingernails!!! Did I mention that NOEL let them paint his too…is he a great Papa or what????
Madi did the left hand....
Erin got the right!!!
They used the sideways stroke on us....too cute!!!
We also started a reward board for the girls due to their recent outbursts of orneriness…aka acting out…and it is working like a charm!!! The girls are now LOOKING for things to do to earn stars toward a prize!!! They get 5 and 10 star prizes…they have been different little girls this weekend for sure. Erin has been going to bed without any arguments and even asking if they can go to bed…all for a little star on a piece of paper with their name on it!!! The prizes consist of pencils, erasers, headbands and mini M&Ms (1 prize per 5 stars) and the 10 star prizes are water guns (hope that wasn’t a mistake), sidewalk chalk and books for starters!!! They are napping now and will want their star for laying down with no arguments as soon as they wake up…why didn’t I think of this before???
Last but not least this weekend….they played in the sprinkler!!!!! Madi was a little apprehensive at first but they had a good time once they got started!!!
Jumpin the sprinkler!!!!
Madi was not as sure about it...
Just wanted to share this wonderful experience we had with the girls this weekend….being a grandparent is SOOOO much fun. I saw a bumper sticker once that said “Granchildren are your reward for not killing your teenager…” I think I would have to agree!!!!
Had an awesome opportunity to photograph two beautiful girls…Jessica and Alex. Jessica is our 11 yr old granddaughter and Alex is my dear friend Shelia’s 15 yr old daughter. I asked Shelia if I could photograph Alex and bring Jessica along because I didn’t have any good recent shots of Jess and I thought Alex might be able to help bring her out of her shell a little. It worked like a charm and we got some great shots that I wanted to share….I took over 300, so this is a very small sample!!! Let me know what you think…
Thanks Shelia, Alex and Jessica for a great afternoon….it was tons of fun!!!!
